Gema

Gema

Angin kencang bertiup menuju tempat kita berpijak
Namun kita takkan goyah  karena kita saling bergandeng tangan
Suara kita pun bergema mengusir segala mimpi burukmu

Melangkah menarilah menyanyilah menggemalah.
Dan biarkanlah semua berakhir dan nyanyian
Dan nyanyikanlah dengan riang bersama dan bergema.

Future Days

Future Days

We always have the questions
About everything
About everything
We Will Always Wonder
When was our life truly starts

Can you tell me? Where will we be in our future?

We always have the questions
But we don’t really know what’s the answer
We will always wonder
When was our life truly starts

There are so many ways to reach our future days
(and someday we’ll understand)

All Birds Are Against The Gravity

All Birds Are Against The Gravity

In this frightening life
My mind stopped revolving
Smile is all what we can do
But the world is bleeding

And The only place for honesty
Is when you feel alone
Cause the people around you
Made you lie to yourself

All birds are against the gravity
Not all birds are against the gravity

L'Alphalpha @ Baybeats 2013 : Music by the Bay

It’s been a week since our last performance at Baybeats 2013 but the euphoria still seemingly intact, not to mention on this final exam period. The trip was memorable for all of us. I still remember clearly how the audience’s reaction when we played our newest single as the opening of our outdoor set. “Future Days” was quite a hit and we really enjoyed playing it in front of the Baybeats’ crowd. The sounds on stage were awesome! The stage crews were wonderful and no significant technical difficulties whatsoever occurred on the sets. We had a blast.

We had the chance to play 3 different sets. The first one was an acoustic-minimalist-set held in Esplanade’s library. There, we had an interview/talk show and got a chance to perform 2 songs. We chose “Park” and “Reverie” for the evening’s repertoire. With Herald and Ciwi strummed the acoustic guitars, and Yayas provided with a superb baby grand piano. The others, Yudish, Irma, and me, were just resting our asses on the couch getting ready for the next set on outdoor stage.

The second set we had was on the outdoor stage, known as the Waterfront stage. As we had been performing before on this stage back in 2011, we’ve already get used to the system and sound-checking process. As always, the crew cooperation was very much helping and the minutes we played our song on stage we felt like we were ready to rock the night. No pressure and nervous feelings, we were having our time and just rocked our guts out. More of it, the crowds were astonishing. We very much appreciate the love and kindness the audience shares with us. I personally thank you guys for that. Much respect! We also performed our new singles for our first time in Singapore, the ones that written in Bahasa Indonesia, “Gema” and “Luka, Waktu, Manusia”. The responses from the audience were unexpected. At first, we thought it would be difficult to gain positive feedbacks as it is in Indonesian language, but in contrast the responses that we got from our twitter, facebook, and other social media are the other way around. Hopefully we can release the materials and share it with you guys at the end of this year!

The third set was the last set. We had the chance to close the acoustic stage session inside Esplanade’s lobby. At first we thought it was going to be a bit dull, because, like every acoustic session we had before, we only have a few songs to play in a minimalist set. It is always been difficult for us to interpret the songs, which we intentionally make for a full set, into an acoustic set. Using a grand piano, electric guitar, synth, bass, a cajon and toys, we played a fairly different set list. It was “About a Friend” as the opening and “Luka, Waktu, Manusia” came second. This new song is one of my personal favorites. Hehe. As for the third song, we played our second single that released last year.”Comet’s Tail” always been a crowd pleaser, because of the sweet and catchy tunes, and moreover the use of children’s toys in the middle of the song is always attractive. Response from the audience was unbelievable; we managed to get about fifty-to-hundred people to watch us in a relatively small venue. The floor was quite full. The most memorable scene of the night is when we played our song, “Park”, and get a few audiences to play the toys with us. Their enthusiasm helped us to get through the night with a smile on our faces. The CDs we brought were sold out and we also get the chance to give away a few free downloads of our newest single, “FutureDays, that had been released couple of days before in a split form collaborating with our dearest mates from Experience Brothers. It was the happiest night.

The festival was a success. The bands were great. We had a lot of fun. We even met new friends from Singapore and other countries. It was quite a memorable experience. And for now, I’m sitting here writing this paper while holding these goddamn exam materials waiting to be conquered. Come what come may, god bless us all. -i-

Two for Thursdays: Bottle Smoker & L'Alphalpha

It's been a while and lot of "whiles" before since our last post. but we have enjoyed a really interesting day on yesterday's gig. we've been invited by AtAmerica and Beyond Production to play a gig there with Bottle Smoker (BDG). We  were required to play 2 or 3 songs from american bands / singers. it's pretty much challenging for us to do that and of course to choose what song that we're going to play. and so we decided to three songs, from Phantom Plane, Smashing Pumpkins and Death Cab For Cutie.  and unfortunately our drummer Ildo can't join us yesterday and being replaced by Innu (The Trees And The Wild) a super sub!

and below you can enjoy our last gig and you can see Bottle Smoker afterwards.
